Many of us would love to help raise money for good causes. This could be to support a local club or to give back to a charity that has helped you. However many people don’t know where to start. There are many different ways you can fundraise. Here are a few different examples of some of those ways.
Raffle Or Tombola
Raffles and tombolas are some of the most common ways of fundraising. You can ask local businesses to donate prizes. Similarly, you can ask friends and family for any unwanted bits they have laying around.
Raffles and tombolas don’t have to be held at big events. You can set up a stall in your local town one weekend. You could even ask your local club to sell raffle tickets for you. Tombolas and raffles can take a lot of time and effort to organise. However, they are very good for fundraising.
Sponsored Events
Everyone loves to sponsor others to do something challenging. Simply Find something to do that will be challenging and ask your friends and family to sponsor you. You can choose to take part in an event with lots of others doing it for sponsorship money, such as the London Marathon. Alternatively, it could be something you are doing alone, such as sleeping in a tent for a month. Make sure it is something you will enjoy. For example, consider being sponsored to do something off your bucket list.
Sponsored events are particularly successful if you have children. If you are fundraising for a children’s club, get the children to take part in a sponsored event.
Sales
Selling things can bring in a lot of revenue for your charity. You could organise a large scale sale where many people donate goods to sell, like a jumble sale. Garage safaris are popular, where people have a sale from their own home and pay a donation to be included in the safari. Alternatively, you could have a clear-out and sell what you don’t need in a yard sale.
You could also make things to sell. You could make and sell homemade gifts depending on your skills. Similarly, you could also do a bake sale. Cakes always sell well. However, some places won’t let you sell cakes until you supply an ingredients list.
Funding websites
Funding websites such as GoFundMe are perfect for fundraising. They are perfect if you don’t have time to organise other forms of fundraising. Simply set up your page, explaining the charity and why you want to support them. Your friends and family can donate online. This is helpful if you have friends and family who want to support you but are not local.
Hold a Fete
If you are looking to raise a lot of money, why not hold a fayre or fete. You can incorporate many other forms of fundraising within your fayre or fete. For example, you can have a stall with a tombola and a stall selling items. Additionally, you can charge local businesses to have a stall.
Organising a fete or fayre can take a lot of planning. So this may be better to go with a group of people rather than on your own.
Holding A Themed Evening
Hiring a local hall and holding a themed evening is perfect as a fundraiser. You can hold a quiz night or a board game evening. You could then charge for entry. Again you can ask local businesses for donations of prizes.
Similarly, to planning a fete, this may take a bit of planning and organising, so you could be as part of a group fundraising. Once again you can add other forms of fundraising into this evening. For example a raffle at the end of the night or a cake sale.
Fundraising
Fundraising can be easier than you think. You can choose something simpler to do if you don’t have the time or confidence to organise something on a larger scale.
Fundraising is an amazing way of giving back to a charity that has helped you or to keep a charity or club going.
