Painting your Walls When You Decorate A Living Room On A Budget.
If you are on a tight budget, you can freshen up the walls with white or magnolia paint. Then choose one wall to be a focal wall. Paint this wall the colour that you really want. White walls will brighten up your living room. So your focal wall can be as bright or as dark as you want. You can then use this focal wall to hang a nicely framed picture or even put your TV on the wall.
On the white walls, you can get creative. If you have a Cricut, you can make some vinyl signs to pop on the wall. This personalises the wall as well as shows your flare for creativity.
Use A Rug On The Floor
If you cannot afford a new carpet, get a rug and cover it. You can move a rug from one room to the living room. Or you can check local Market Place groups to see if anyone is giving one away. Even ask around with friends and family, as they might have a free rug that you can have.
You can place the rug at an angle to make it look different. It doesn’t have to be in the centre of the living room. You can put it off the centre and it will still look great.
Pictures And Mirrors
Hang pictures which most reflect your personality. If you are able to, try frames that are focal and get people talking. If you decide to hang a mirror on the wall in your living room, it not only makes the room look bigger. The light reflects off the mirror and creates the illusion of more space. It also reflects a good view and adds a nice element to your living room.
Lighting Can Look Totally Different
You can replace lamps that look outdated and old-fashioned. But instead of the cost of a whole lamp, you can simply change your lampshade. It is going to be a lot cheaper and nobody really notices the lamp base as much as the lampshade. Also, look at changing the ceiling lamp shade too.
Change The Look Of A Coffee Table
If your coffee table has seen better days, don’t get rid of it, you can easily give it a new lease of life. You can get a cloth and throw it over the table. It is quick and easy. Also, you can change the cloth easily if you want a different look. Another thing you could do to give it new life is to cover it is tiles. Cover it in mosaic tiles or coloured glass. Make sure you lay the tiles straight and seal them properly.
If you don’t feel as adventurous as that, you can simply paint your table. Get chalky paint to give it a homely look.
Plants Can Help To Decorate A Living Room Plants
Add freshness and nature to the decor of your living room. If you place them carefully you can even hide marked walls and stains on carpets.
