If you’ve already read my previous post, A Tour of the Venetian Islands, you’ll know that to celebrate my friend’s birthday, we took a trip to Venice for a long weekend of sight-seeing and indulgence.
One example of such indulgence was our choice to stay at the famous Hotel Danieli, an incredibly central 5 Star hotel offering great views across the lagoon, just a stone’s throw from St Mark’s Square. It dates from the 14th century when the first Palazzo was built, with subsequent palaces added to the complex in the 19th and 20th centuries.
The hotel houses antiques and artworks collected over this time, which is a real treat for travellers to explore!

Our Room
We chose a twin room and due to my friend’s employer, we were lucky enough to be upgraded to one with a terrace as well as a balcony, in a quieter section of the hotel, facing the Doge’s palace.

The room was very spacious, with a corridor leading to bedroom featuring twin beds, a desk, flat-screen TV, several ornate chairs and tables and a coat rack.

The bathroom was white marble, containing a huge shower over bath and of course, slippers and robes.

The View
On the top floor of the hotel, you can find the breakfast/dining room, a bistro restaurant and a glorious terrace showcasing the best views of Venice.

On a sunny day, there is nothing more enjoyable than soaking up the sights of the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute and the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, with gondolas bobbing in the foreground.

Our stay at the Danieli was very enjoyable, from the excellent service, attention to detail, generous breakfast (with prosecco available for those wishing to truly indulge!), perfect location and incredible rooftop views, I would definitely recommend staying in this piece of Venetian history – if you have the cash to splash, that is!
