I have to admit that when my sister announced she was taking me to Montenegro for a week to celebrate my birthday I had to run to Google to find out where exactly it is! Montenegro, meaning ‘black mountains’, is situated on the Adriatic Sea neighbouring Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo and Albania.
In the last few years locations such as Dubrovnik in Croatia have been getting more and more popular due to the climate and beautiful scenery, however, these destinations are becoming more and more fashionable and pushing up the prices!

We found a great holiday deal including accommodation at the Lavender Bay Apartment complex which was a brand new resort made up of a range of sleek, modern apartments which sleep between 2-4 people with 1 and 2 bedrooms.
The complex sits on the Bay of Kotor and is easily accessible by car, being around 30-60 mins drive from all the towns you might want to visit on your trip and boasts private parking which came in handy as we hired a car for our time there. Although it’s worth noting the parking spaces were a touch on the small side which made getting in and out of the space tricky.
Lavender Bay also has an onsite cafe, spa with jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, as well as a gorgeous infinity pool and a sunbathing terrace area with stunning views across the Bay.
The resort is only a short (albeit down a pretty steep) walk away from the beach and a useful locally run convenience shop. If you prefer to eat out then the Tramontana Beach Club which serves affordable good food on the beach is
The Lavender Bay apartments are styled in a sleek, modern style with bright white walls and pops of colour found in the soft furnishings in a Scandi-style which I found most attractive. The apartments are of a generous size with lots of space particularly in the open plan area comprising of living, dining and cooking space.
The kitchen was fully equipped with a ceramic hob with 4 rings, dishwasher, fridge freezer, kettle, microwave and a built-in oven. Cutlery, crockery, utensils and basic cooking equipment were provided.
Comfort is at the forefront of the resort’s priorities with air-conditioning in all apartments. Entertainment isn’t far from the top of the list either with wi-fi and satellite TV available for when you need a break from exploring.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment made up of a master bedroom with en-suite and a second twin bedroom next door to the main bathroom. Both bathrooms had modern facilities with the main bathroom boasting an amazing drench shower. All hand, bath and pool towels are provided.
Our apartment had a balcony perfect for alfresco dining or drinks at the end of a long day of adventures. I can also recommend using the balcony for hanging clothes for drying!
The Lavender Bay Apartments made for a fantastic home based for our week exploring Montenegro’s Kotor Bay. We enjoyed the simple, elegant and practical facilities along with modern interior design and comfortable furniture.
We spent many hours relaxing up by the pool delighting in the delicious cocktails served up to us by friendly and helpful staff that made us feel welcome and safe. I even indulged in a massage at the spa.
Our only gripe was that the wi-fi didn’t work in our apartment, the only way we could get
We award the Lavender Bay Apartments 4 out of 5 stars. It would have been top marks had it not been for the wi-fi signal and the tricky parking. That being said I would definitely go back!
