In previous posts, I mentioned that I took a trip to Seville last summer for a spot of sun, sangria and scenery. After the Plaza de España and the Alcázar of Seville, we decided to take a day trip to Córdoba. The next day or two were spent wandering around the city and visiting a number of highlights – one of which was the Metropol Parasol.
The Metropol Parasol is a wooden, mushroom shaped structure, which you can view from below as well as purchase a ticket to take a lift to the top for some great views over the city, as well as stop by the restaurant for a coffee or perhaps a cocktail, depending on the time of day!
You can traverse the wooden walkways and stairs around the circumference of the mushrooms, giving you 360 degree views over Seville.
But the cityscape isn’t the only reason to visit the Metropol Parasol – underneath the structure you can find Roman and Moorish remains, which even includes a small photography exhibition.
There are plenty of mosaics to enjoy close up as you walk around a suspended walkway, as well as artefacts to inspect and read about.
Metropol Parasol definitely offers visitors a unique experience – standing on a wooden mushroom certainly isn’t something I will forget!
